One theory about homelessness is that policies making life increasingly difficult for homeless people may be driven less by personal hatred and more by economic incentives, assumptions about poverty, and the belief that people experiencing homelessness simply refuse to work.

Some people assume that homelessness results from laziness or poor decisions. Although some individuals make decisions that worsen their circumstances, others face circumstances beyond their control. Some may also refuse certain housing arrangements for reasons that others consider unwise. However, these cases should not define the entire homeless population.

Mediterranean Italians from Sicily can tan to extremely brown colors in the right climate, like if they go to Africa, their body adapts to protect them from the harmful UV rays to prevent cancer and their skin turns brown, but once they leave for Iceland, because of the lack of UV rays, their skin goes pale.
