One moment his feet were planted on the pavement, the next he was lifting—awkwardly, instinctively—into the air, the city shrinking beneath him as if it had suddenly remembered he was allowed to leave it behind. Strength followed. Not the gym-earned kind, but something terrifying and absolute: doors tore free in his hands, steel bent like warm wax, and blows that should have shattered bone barely registered as taps against his skin.
