SO, some people electrocute children as a prank for fun

They usually do this by telling them to touch electric fences. Children think this is done with no ill-intents or in good fun, the only issue is that people don't normally trick people into touching electric fences without any ill-will towards the other person but SONE kids just blindly trust so much nowadays that someone could literally electrocute you and they'll still say "They didn't mean to hurt anyone..."

Here’s why people joking about grabbing wires, touching unknown wires on a farm, or doing things like peeing on an electric fence — could be dangerous and shouldn’t be treated as harmless fun:

1. Electricity Can Travel Through Your Body

Electric shock happens when electrical current flows through your body. The body conducts electricity through blood and tissues, and even a brief path can be enough to cause serious effects. (Cleveland Clinic)

2. Effects Range from Painful to Life‑Threatening

What happens depends on how much current flows, the path it takes, and how long your body is part of the circuit. Electric shock can cause:

  • Muscle spasms or cramping — making you unable to let go of the source. (OSHA)

  • Burns — internally or on the skin where current enters and leaves your body. (Wikipedia)

  • Irregular heart rhythm or cardiac arrest — especially if the current passes through the heart area. (The Environmental Literacy Council)

  • Loss of balance or falls — getting tossed backward or stumbling into something dangerous. (Grieves Solicitors)

These outcomes can happen even if the initial shock seems minor. (Cleveland Clinic)

3. Electric Fences Are Designed to Deliver Shocks

On farms, electric fences are intentionally powered to deliver pulses of high voltage to deter livestock. Touching them completes a circuit through your body to the ground, so you feel that pulse. (The Environmental Literacy Council)

Even though the amperage is low compared to household wiring, that does not mean it’s safe to play with or test. (The Environmental Literacy Council)

4. Urine and Water Increase Conductivity

Your skin is a better insulator when dry, but wet conditions (including urine or sweat) reduce your body’s resistance to electricity. That means even a lower‑powered shock can feel stronger and travel deeper.

In some scenarios a continuous conductive path could let current travel up the stream and shock the person, especially if standing barefoot or in wet ground. (Mass Initiative)

5. Unknown Wires Could Be Far More Dangerous

Not every wire on a farm is an electric fence. There could be:

  • Live utility wires

  • Wires connected to mains power

  • Improvised or incorrectly installed electrical systems

These could carry much higher voltage and current, which dramatically increases risk — including electrocution and death.

Bottom Line

Touching or experimenting with wires you don’t know are safe is risky because:

  • Your body can become part of the electrical circuit.

  • Electricity can disrupt your heart, burn tissues, or cause muscle spasms.

  • What seems like a joke or dare can have serious medical consequences.

Play it safe: don’t touch, grab, lick, or test unknown wires — especially on farms or rural settings where hazards are common and unpredictable.

Example:

@zolavib1187

"Especially the ones where it's enclosing horses. I touched a wire that lined a wooden fence about 6 inches above on a horse farm. Despite having solid rational thinking that there's already a fence so if there's a wire above it it's most likely electric. So I threw a stick on it like I had seen about two weeks prior on Jurassic Park also knowing it doesn't work like that. Then all I remember is thinking about touching it and waking up four or five feet from where I stood. Pretty sure I didn't feel quite right from that point on. But you won't catch me touching random and not so random wires ever again."

Why this happens via uncles:

"Never trust uncles. Their disdain for their brothers/sisters pass down to their kin. Any chance to play a practical joke on a nephew/neice is a chance at getting back at their brother or sister for torment caused when they were younger. Of course, all in good fun but still."
